I have been wanting to make a new post for quite a while but had been doing nothing interesting. Today, I'm happy to report, is different! :)
Yesterday afternoon Alan and I dropped Ethan off at Alan's mom's house and we drove to Park City to celebrate Alan's graduation/our 5th wedding anniversary (which takes place next month). We wanted to do something here while we had a great babysitter available! We had a WONDERFUL time! There really aren't ways to say it and the pictures won't show it, but it was a great, great weekend for us!
We were pretty hungry by the time we got to the hotel so we ordered room service (which is something I've always wanted to do). The food was delicious!

While we ate, we watched
Leatherheads. I hadn't been excited to see this one, but it seemed the best choice out of the movies available and I'm so glad we picked it! It was so funny!
Our room also had a jacuzzi (yes, it is heart-shaped) which we enjoyed. I was amazed at how well it soothed my stressed-over-moving muscles!

After a good night's sleep, we awoke early to go on a
hot air balloon ride. It was so neat to watch the balloons being blown up. They are HUGE! I would have never guessed they were so big!

I took this shot to show you the comparison to a person (and the balloon wasn't even full)!

Alan got to help hold the balloon open while they blowed the air and flames in!

I took a peek inside while it was inflating...the top was a smiley face! :)

There were 3 balloons in our group. Here are the other 2 taking off. I just love these big balloons!

The first few minutes of the flight I was very nervous that I would faint or be ill and that it would be a big waste of money, but then things seemed to settle down and I loved the rest of the trip!

It was really just amazing to be eye-level with or looking down on Utah's beautiful mountains!

We were so high up! Here's looking down at one of the other balloons and Heber City.

And, here's our shadow.

We loved it! Also, just as a side note, there was a proposal during our flight. All of a sudden we hear a girl squealing and hugging her guy. (We thought she must be really scared until she backed away and we saw the huge ring slide onto her finger!) It was great!
Landing was supposed to be the toughest part, but ours was very smooth. Looking at one of the other balloons land was pretty crazy! How would you like for this to be in your back yard?

After landing, we had a little champagne (or, in our case, sparkling cider) ceremony which is done for history's sake...he told us the whole story, but I'll save you from reading even more of this mammoth entry). We even received certificates for being such good passengers!

On the way back to get Ethan, Alan and I were discussing our little vacation, and we decided that the only thing we did wrong was order too much food! :) Like I said, it was GREAT!

How fun! I'm glad you talked Alan into the hot air balloon ride! Where did you guys end up staying? Looks like you had a great time!
I have always wanted to go on a hot air balloon ride. I will get to do that at some point in my life, I just know it. :) I loved this post.
Oh my goodness, I KNOW I would have been scared at first, too! But how exciting and fun. The balloons are beautiful.
What a lot of fun! That's great that you have family nearby to have fun with Ethan so you don't have to worry. It sounds like you had a blast.
How fabulous! What a fun weekend :)
Cool. i've always wanted to do that. I'm glad you got a way just the two of you! i miss hanging out with you and Kathryn. Our kids are growing so fast.
Holy cow what a dream weekend! That is so awesome you got to hot air balloon. I would've peed my pants I think (and thus not earned the certificate at the end) but I see you didn't, as you have yours! So fun :)
Way to go on taking some time for yourselves! I love that you guys went on a hot air balloon ride. That is something that would have never even crossed my mind. How inventive and adventurous! You are brave Sharon. Not just for riding in a hot air balloon, but for posting a pic of your heart-shaped tub. Too funny!
I am so jealous that you got to order room service! Some day...
You guys are so creative. I would never think to go on a hot air balloon ride, but now I will... someday. That looks so cool. I love the heart shaped tub though too, though of course we know you guys didn't actually use it :)
