We took a day before school started to finally visit the Museum of Natural Science. (I'd been planning it all summer, but by waiting, Alan got to come with us.) :)
The boys liked watching the pendulum and have since referred to "that thing that slowly went in a circle and knocked down those things" a few times. :)
There was a fantastic docent in the dinosaur section that told us lots of fun facts.
For example, did you know that you can tell if they are real bones or replicas by the way the stand is made? (If the stand has posts through the bones, it's a replica and if it goes along the outside of the bones, the bones are real.)
This triceratops was found almost completely intact...I think he even said with some skin on it.
Jared was super excited to get to the elephant portion of the museum.
The Hall of Curiosities was pretty fantastic because you could touch things. The docent there encouraged Alan to try out this ginormous chair. :)
For some reason, Jared was also very, very excited about the mummies.
I know the non-flash photography isn't very exciting. :)
