Pay it Forward

I'm feeling the great desire to share with you one of the best ideas I've ever heard...okay, I may be exaggerating, but I'm currently a huge fan! About 7 months ago, we attempted to get rid of Ethan's pacifier by just simply taking it away. After a very painful few days, we gave it back. Poor kid cried himself to sleep every single time and didn't seem to be adjusting to life without it well. We got the tip to try the snip method* where you cut the tiniest amount off the pacifier so that it doesn't work properly. (Thanks to Jeremy and Brooke!) After one week and only minimal fussing (He didn't cry he just acted annoyed with it!), Ethan is pacifier free! I'm so pleased!
*Just so you know, if you look it up, you'll see things about it being dangerous. They argue that with the suction broken, the child could bite off the tip and choke. I tried to bite it off and couldn't, so I decided it was fine. I also kept an eye on him while he fell asleep the first night. After that night, he didn't even try to suck on it!

Brilliant! I've never heard of that, I've heard of the snipping the whole thing off, but I will put this in my little burlap sack to try that fateful day that Abby will be off of it (but NOT anytime soon!)

Brooke was the one who found that method and tried it. Miles' still fondly remembers his "pass" and that he "threw it away 'cuz it was broken."

Neither of the twins like their pacifiers, so I guess we won't have to worry about it with them... Frankly, I would rather they took one now and then we could worry about it later.

I am so proud of you for taking the plunge into no binky. No matter how hard it is to get rid of it, it is still so worth using one!!

What a good idea!! That technique doesn't sound like it will work on David's thumb sucking, though. Haha.

I love the binky and saying goodbye to the binky too! Unfortunately Hadlie does like to put her fingers in her mouth though. I may have let her keep it too long or not long enough??? Who knows. All I know is it started getting a little crazy keeping track of the blasted thing so we said "adios"!
