Fun, Fun, Fun (till her Daddy takes her T-bird away)

(We've been listening to a lot of Beach Boys this summer.)

At the very end of July we went over to Louisiana for a few days of fun.  The first day we had a great water balloon fight with cousins.
Of course, we had to clean off the deck first.  These kids are getting pretty good at it!

The deck is kind of our favorite place to be.  It makes it almost bearable to be outside because it's so nice and shady.  When combined with water balloons, you've got heaven on earth.

I hadn't planned to participate, but Jared felt like the teams were completely uneven, so I joined in and got soaked too.
We piled in Jennie's van and got snowcones from my favorite snowcone place ever!

Ethan caught a lizard that entertained them for a while.
Later, the boys played chess using the super cool set Grandpa brought back from Africa.
Grandma has the cutest stuffed horse and Jared was having his elephant ride it around.  It was too cute and he was very happy about it even though we didn't catch a smile in the picture.
We caught Grandpa in the picture though.  ;)  Also while we were there, mom quilted like a machine and I helped a little too on a quilt for my cousin's wedding.  Quilting together is the best!
Okay, maybe quilting is second best, because water parks need the top spot.  We love water parks!  Sulphur has a pretty great one that isn't too big and crazy.  :)

There are more big slides on the other side of the park as well.  Ethan did all of them!  I did most and Jared did a few until a new lifeguard came and told him he was a half inch too short.
(We think it looked like he was tall enough at first because his hair wasn't wet and flat.)
The bigger kids wanted to play a complicated game that was boring for Eric, so he hung out with mom and I a bit and tried on all the thimbles.  :)
Ethan (our little businessman) didn't want to miss out on chore money for the week, so asked Grandma for some chores to do.
Jared was happy to miss out on chores and loved the extra playtime.
I wish I'd brought my real camera for this trip because the phone camera was struggling with lighting over and over, but I just love scenes like these.
Saturday was Eric's birthday party at the splash pad.  :)  What a cute 4-year old!  Jennie always does such fun, creative, and yummy cakes!
We gave Eric a Duplo Bob the builder...doesn't Jared look thrilled.  (By the way, thanks Jennie for the pictures!)
I even made it into one.  :)  You'd think that we had planned it because his parents gave him a big box of Duplo blocks!  :)
(I feel a bit like I belong in a Curious George book these days because I'm always wearing my yellow hat, but I love it and it is so effective.)
We left straight from the party.  I never did figure out what happened, but we sat in traffic that only inched forward for over an hour.  It was pretty awful!  However, as annoyed as I was, my boys were angels!  They didn't complain once.  Hooray for iPads sometimes!
We had to make a stop because the trip was so much longer than usual, so I decided we'd make the stop a yummy one.  :)  I didn't ask the boys to pause and smile as a gift to them since they were so good during the traffic jam.  :)
Also, we've officially switched.  I used to get a small and Ethan and Jared would get mini blizzards, or else a small to share.  Now, I get a mini and Ethan gets a small himself.  Also, I am guessing our days of being able to share one chicken strip basket are close to done.  I'll enjoy it while I can.
Oh, and did I mention, it was ridiculously hot while we were stuck in traffic?!
Oh well, still worth it.  The trip was super fun and I'd even kind of forgotten about how long the drive home was until going back through these pictures.  ;)
