Happy Birthday to Jared!

For Jared's birthday, we got some remote-controlled cars--something he's been wanting for a long time--and had some family races.  He has talked about playing with them at Grandma Great's house (Ellen & Gregg's place) frequently and was thrilled to get to pick some out.  Alan designed a track for us and instructed the boys on the proper route.

Racing was hilarious and lots of fun.

Alan and I took turns racing as well.  I was surprised that I didn't lose by much.  :)  Alan actually won by driving backwards the last bit after his car turned around and Ethan declared him to be Mater (since Mater is the world's best backwards driver).  :)

Jared also wanted a cookie cake and saw one at the grocery store that he asked for.  It was much cheaper so we decided to go for it.  Never again!  The extra money and extra stop to pick it up are completely worth it!  Also, he didn't want me to write anything on it, so it's boring.  His patience would only hold out so long.  He had to wait for the balloons and the banner; otherwise it wouldn't have looked birthday at all!

Anyway, he's adorable and has been singing happy birthday to himself for days!  I tried to get it on video, but he was too distracted.  If only I had a sound recording of what I was privy to in the car on the way home from the store.  Boy, oh, boy!  Such enthusiasm!  Such volume!

How cute - they look like they had so much fun with the race cars! And I love Jared's pouty face with the cake, ha ha. :)
