How long has it been
Since I picked up the pen
To create a new poem or prose?
Was it April or May?
I really can't say,
So it's been far too long, I suppose.
Anyway, the line in the book sprouted lots of thoughts about hobbies. Currently, I would say that my hobbies include: reading (or listening to audiobooks), photography, scrapbooking (I MUST finish Jared's baby book! Also, I must decide if going digital is really the best option!), sewing, puzzling (jigsaw), crafting (mostly holiday decorations), and organizing (and reorganizing) the house.
The problem is that there's not enough productive time to keep up with many hobbies. I like things to be uncluttered, so I can't keep a project out all the time. I want to try others, but who has the time?! I would love to try painting. I miss the times in life that I spent enough time planning meals so that cooking is really a joy. (I could go on.) I know that I have the same amount of time in the day as everyone else. I could be spending this time doing something instead of blogging, but I guess I might want to add blogging to the list and say I am working on a hobby. :)
Yesterday I was cleaning out my closet and found several puzzles. I LOVE puzzles! :) I would have a puzzle room in my dream house. That's right--a whole room dedicated to puzzles! It would have a nice big puzzle table in the middle with optimal lighting and plenty of wall space to display my favorites. :) Okay, back to real life... I took a couple pictures of some of my favorites that I could never put on the wall because I like doing them over and over.
These two I have had for at least 15 years and have done them at least that many times.
These two represent two of my favorite things in life! :)
This one is one that I feel the need to do each summer.
Most puzzles I do once and then pass on to someone else, but these I think I will keep forever. :)
I don't think puzzles will ever leave my hobby list, though I don't do them that often. I guess maybe it's okay not do do things you love everyday, so it's okay that I haven't written poems in a long time. I just have to keep my skills present enough to write funny little poems inside my kids' teachers' appreciation cards. :) (My dad used to do that...much to my great embarrassment!) :)
P.S.--I warned you with the title! I almost went back and tried to change it, but if I do that, I'm pretty sure I'd delete half of it.

Thanks for rambling, Sharon. I truly love reading of all you love to do. I am glad you can come over and we can come see you, too.
