One of the Best Gifts Ever

By noon on Christmas day, I knew that we had given Ethan a gift that was really worth it.  This kid loves his castle!

He loves playing "knights" and wants to be a prince or a knight all the time.  He saves me (the queen) from terrors of the forest.  Sometimes he requests that I step off the throne and pretend to be a bad knight.

He wants every bedtime song to be one about a prince or a knight.  I made up songs for a few nights and then started to run out of inspiration.    We've started a system where he gives me a problem for the knight, and I make up the solution...usually in song.  It's been a pretty interesting journey.  Our knights have fought ogres, giants, had jousting competitions--you know, the usual things one does as a knight.  We've also had songs about not having enough Oreo Pie, trying to find the "never-breakable ax-sword," and much, much more.

I know it's a phase, but I'm in no hurry for it to end.  I love my knight in shining armor!  :)

Best...mom...ever

At the end of the day my brain is way too fried to even remember to read them a story out of a book let alone make up a chorus to go along with a complex situations set in the middle ages!
