Katie Came to Visit

Okay, so I know these pictures are long overdue, but I made the mistake of forgetting to get pictures off of Katie's camera when she was here. Then, I decided it was nice to post them a little late because I got to think about our fun all over again! :)

Katie got in on Thursday afternoon. We spent the evening doing a little shopping. (This was the only picture from the evening...this was one of Katie's teenage dream stores.) We bought matching shoes, though...I feel like I must be doing well if I have the same shoes as Katie! We went to Carlo's Bake Shop on Friday morning. We had great timing as there was no line when we got there! We brought them home to share with the boys. Friday night we went into the city for dinner and a show. We went to Carmine's for dinner and then saw Mary Poppins. I'd totally recommend both! At Carmine's we ordered Shrimp Scampi and garlic bread. They're pretty serious about their garlic bread! :)Mary Poppins was great! I thought they did a really good job keeping enough from the movie, but making it different enough to be interesting.Saturday we went into the city for a fun day at Grand Central Terminal (where we made a quick stop at Magnolia Bakery. Delicious! :)Then, after enjoying a cupcake, we embraced our touristy roll and got the audio tour. I love learning random facts and historical trivia about a building. I'm just that nerdy. :)They still use these old-fashioned ticket windows.
Can you find Katie?Katie came up with this fun shot.Inside the train station, there are so many shops as well as a grocery market. There is also a whispering area. You can stand at opposing corners and whisper to the wall and your friend can hear you in the opposite side...it worked pretty well. We ate at the Oyster Bar Restaurant. So yummy! We ordered the lobster roll to split (since we'd already indulged our cupcake fancy (and we had 2 saved for later as well!). We decided to continue carrying our cupcakes and go get some Pinkberry frozen yogurt. It was delicious...well worth the walk. We wanted to spend some time walking through Central Park, but we only made it for a couple minutes due to the freezing wind!We stopped by the Plaza Hotel (it has nice bathrooms, by the way). Then we went home and watched a movie and got a good night's rest. The next morning we took Katie to the airport. It was such a nice visit!
