Pondering
So, I’ve been thinking and I want your opinion. Is the blog for you, your audience, or a mixture of both…where’s the balance? Is there a “right” answer? I started our blog for far-away family. It was easier for me to do than sending out emails. I’ve loved the way that I can stay in touch with so many friends so easily! I think blogs are fantastic! Once I had published our blog into book form, I started wishing I had included more photos and details and things so that it could be a better record for our family. I didn’t do that in the first place, however, so that I wouldn’t bore you all to tears! While I was looking in the book, I remember saying, “From now on, I’m going to do the blog for me and only me and people can just ignore what they find boring.” I haven’t been able to stay convinced, however. The blog is a public forum…even if it’s private…other people look at it. I know that I have expressed my opinion many, many times on my blog and if I’ve ever made my opinion sound like the only good option, please forgive me! Anyway, thoughts? Feelings? Opinions?

Do it for yourself. We'll just listen in. :)
I have the same confusion about my blog! I love the blog in published form, as do our girls, and I do sort of feel like I should put it more details. But, I also don't want people reading our blog to feel like they want to puke by how obsessed I sound about our "perfect life." Tough call. I'll read your blog either way because I just love you guys. Plus, this was my first time reading Ethan's funny comments in a while, Cameron and I are laughing pretty hard, what a cute kiddo!
I think of the blog for family and friends to see and share since they're far away. I still feel a need to keep a personal journal to write for my own perspective and memories that I don't think I'd need to share with others, for their sake as well as mine. I think both kinds of "memory books" are important.
The blog is mainly for you! I love to go back and read my old posts. Put whatever you want and don't worry who's bored. Also, if you have a more personal post you don't want us all to read, just save it without publishing~ then you can add it to your blog book if you want to. It'll still be right there in order.
I love seeing blogs of friends from now and the past because it's a window into what they are doing and I love to hear the funny stories or read the cute quotes (like Ethan's!). It makes me happy. I like posting things too because I like sharing with whoever wants to actually read about our lives. I don't know how to publish it though...just print out the screen? :-) Anyway, blogs are fun to write, read and reminisce. Thank you for sharing yours.
I agree to do it for yourself. I don't mind long and detailed and if I get bored, I will scroll down as needed.

I agree that it's for you, in that you can put as many details as you want, and people can just skip over what they don't want to read. That being said, I also think bloggers have to realize that their posts are public, so braggy posts, insensitive posts, etc. should just never happen. :) But that's just my opinion. And BTW - I'm staying strong and not reading a certain thing...! :)
I would do it mainly for you. i know i post some pretty cheesy, boring stuff sometimes but oh well. i try and document what is going on in our lives so when i look back its easier to remember. I don't think you've ever made your opinion sound like the only good one, and i think its ok if you do because your opinion on things probably works great for you! you do a great job.
